Job Description The Basilica of Saint Mary Archives & Museum internship offers qualified candidates the opportunity to gain handson experience in the field of museum and archival work. The role works directly with the Basilica Archival Manager/Museum Curator, providing an in-depth opportunity to conduct historic research and care for items of historical significance. The intern will assist the Basilica Archival Manager/Museum Curator through research and writing, cataloguing and storing items in the physical and digital archives, and supporting other Basilica history projects such as the Tour Guide Apostolate and the creation of additional museum displays. Qualifications & Skills - Be a practicing Catholic faithful to the teachings of the Magisterium. - Be available to work part-time (less than 30 hours/week), Monday-Friday (set hours negotiable). - Be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities. - Be able to work independently and collaboratively. - Be able to work occasional evenings and weekends. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Publisher, Excel). - Proficiency in Canva a plus. Duties & Responsibilities Basilica of Saint Mary Museum - Locate and analyze primary and secondary sources to conduct historic research. - Interpret historical evidence to draw conclusions and develop narratives. - Write articles, object descriptions and display panel text for the Basilica Museum and website. - Assist the curator in developing new exhibits and educational materials. Basilica of Saint Mary Archives - Organize and catalogue historical materials. - Adhere to the proper standards of preservation and handling of historical materials. - Assist in digitizing parish historical records. Tour Guide Apostolate - Offer guided tours of Basilica church, cemetery and/or museum. Cemetery - Help gather, organize and catalogue data from cemetery and burial records
