Holy Family Classical School is seeking a faithful, enthusiastic, and organized Part-Time Choral Music Instructor to lead choral instruction for students in grades 5-8. The ideal candidate will foster a love of sacred and choral music while supporting the mission of Catholic classical education through joyful, disciplined, and age-appropriate music instruction.
Position Overview The Part-Time Choral Music Instructor will teach choral music classes for students in grades 5/6 and 7/8, prepare students to sing for school Masses and liturgies, and support the musical and spiritual life of the school community through concerts, performances, and choral competitions.
Primary Responsibilities Teach choral music classes for grades 5/6 and 7/8 Prepare students to sing for school Masses, liturgical celebrations, concerts, choral competitions, and special events Select and rehearse appropriate sacred and choral repertoire for student ensembles Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate choral curriculum and rehearsal plans Foster proper vocal technique, music literacy, and ensemble skills Coordinate participation in appropriate local choral festivals and competitions Maintain accurate and timely attendance and gradebook records in accordance with school policies and accreditation expectations Provide regular assessment and feedback regarding student performance and participation Coordinate with clergy, administration, accompanists, and faculty regarding music for liturgies and performances Maintain orderly, positive classroom management aligned with the school's mission and expectations Communicate effectively with administration, faculty, and parents regarding student progress and performances Attend designated rehearsals, faculty meetings, performances, and school events related to the position
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Music, Music Education, Choral Conducting, or related field preferred Experience teaching choir or classroom music, preferably with middle school students Ability to direct and conduct student ensembles effectively Familiarity with Catholic liturgy and sacred music preferred Experience preparing students for performances or competitions preferred Strong classroom management and organizational skills Ability to maintain accurate records and meet deadlines consistently Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic classical education Practicing Catholic preferred Position Details Part-time position School-year schedule Compensation commensurate with experience and qualifications
