We are seeking a skilled, experienced carpenter to work alongside our carpentry instructors, taking direct responsibility for overseeing and instructing student apprentices on active job sites. This is a hands-on, field-based role focused on on-the-job training (OJT) in a variety of residential and commercial settings. The right candidate will bring deep trade expertise, a strong work ethic, and a genuine desire to invest in the formation of the next generation of craftsmen.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Supervise and mentor student apprentices on residential and commercial job sites, maintaining high standards of competency, safety, and professionalism. • Provide hands-on instruction and real-time coaching in carpentry techniques appropriate to the current phase of each project. • Coordinate with Project Manager and lead carpentry instructors to align job site schedules with apprenticeship training objectives. • Ensure materials, parts, and components are verified and available in advance of each work phase. • Review blueprints, construction drawings, and project plans; assess existing conditions on remodeling projects to determine scope of work. • Uphold and enforce the College's expectations for quality craftsmanship on every project. • Model virtuous manhood and a strong work ethic, holding students to the same standard.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with experience in any combination of the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply: • Leading apprentices on new residential construction builds • Residential and commercial remodeling • Deck and porch construction • Roof framing • Finish carpentry • Masonry and concrete form and finish work
Qualifications
• Faithfully Catholic; submits to Church authority in all Her teachings. • 5+ (Journeyman) years of experience in carpentry, or an Journeyman Carpenter License or equivalent. • Demonstrated ability to lead, instruct, and supervise workers or apprentices on active job sites. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings. • Strong communication skills and a patient, formative approach to working with young men.
Compensation & Benefits • Salary: $75,000-$85,000 annually, commensurate with experience. • 5-6 weeks of paid time off annually. • All Holy Days of Obligation observed. • Start date: August 1, 2025. • Work schedule varies based on project phase and job site needs.
