Director of Formation and Evangelization St. Mary's Catholic Church, in the heart of Iowa City, is seeking a dynamic, faithful, and mission-oriented Director of Formation and Evangelization to assist in forming intentional disciples of Jesus Christ. This full-time position will lead our adult faith formation efforts, oversee the O.C.I.A. process, guide parish evangelization initiatives, and develop a team of volunteers committed to the Church's mission. Summary
The Director of Formation and Evangelization assists the pastor in the development and implementation of strategies and initiatives to help people become disciples of Jesus Christ by implementing the parish's Discipleship Roadmap.
Duties
The Director is responsible for ensuring adults at St. Mary's are able to grow along the path of discipleship through various programs and initiatives including but not limited to: O.C.I.A. Responsible for the marketing, enrollment, scheduling and teaching content for our yearly process for adults in need of the Sacraments of Initiation. Adult studies and presentations Organizes and markets talks, studies and groups that assist parishioners. grow in their faith. Parish Evangelization Efforts Equip parishioners to spread the Gospel into our community. Lead efforts to be an active and visible presence of the Church in our community. Formation and Evangelization Team Recruit and form volunteer members of the Formation and Evangelization Team Team makes up the "Evangelization Commission." Team assists in the O.C.I.A. process and teaching
Qualifications: An actively practicing Catholic with a strong sense of the importance of a life of discipleship Strong grounding in Catholic theology and ecclesiology, as evidenced by a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree (Master's Degree preferred) in Theology, Catholic Studies, Religious Education, or a related field, or a combination of other relevant coursework and experience Demonstrated experience in relevant professional ministry settings Experience in leading teams (including both paid and volunteer members) Ability to relate effectively with staff, volunteers, parishioners and guests of all ages Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as required Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) Proficiency with or ability to learn Microsoft 365 applications Must hold or be able to obtain valid Iowa Driver's license Successful candidate will be required to submit to a criminal background and credit check, and complete Safe Environment Training Hours and Compensation: Full time, year-round, FLSA exempt position Will require evening and occasional weekend duties Eligible for benefits package, including paid vacation and holidays, health insurance, and 401(k) match Salary ___________ Reporting Relationships Reports to: Pastor Collaborates with: Parish Staff Facilitates Ministry of: Volunteers
