Facilities Manager in Training Light of the World Catholic Parish Full-Time | Non Exempt Hourly 23.00-27.00 / per hour based on experience
Position Overview Light of the World Catholic Parish is seeking a Facilities Manager in Training to support the maintenance, custodial, and grounds operations of our parish facilities. This hands-on role is designed for someone who wants to grow into a future Facilities Manager position through on the job training, mentorship, and increasing responsibility. Under the supervision of the Facilities Manager and Pastor, this position helps ensure parish buildings and grounds are safe, clean, functional, and welcoming for our community.
Key Responsibilities • Assist with routine building maintenance and basic repairs (painting, drywall, minor plumbing/electrical, doors, floors, etc.) • Support preventive maintenance and monitoring of HVAC and building systems • Help coordinate safety inspections (fire alarms, required checks) • Assist with grounds maintenance, including lawn care, snow removal, irrigation, and seasonal upkeep • Support custodial services and occasionally perform custodial tasks • Assist with supervising maintenance staff and volunteers • Help coordinate vendors and contractors • Maintain basic maintenance records, schedules, and supply inventories • Support event setups and facility needs for parish activities
Qualifications • Prior maintenance, custodial, or facilities experience preferred • Willingness to learn building systems and supervisory skills • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical work indoors and outdoors • Reliable, punctual, and able to follow direction while growing in independence • Basic familiarity with maintenance tools and cleaning equipment • Commitment to safety and respectful, professional conduct • Respect for Catholic values; practicing Catholic preferred
Working Conditions • Some evenings, weekends, or holidays may be required • On call assistance for facility-related needs or emergencies as needed
