About St. John Paul the Great Catholic High School:
Saint John Paul the Great Catholic High School (JPG), only four years old, is the newest high school in the Denver area and is dedicated to providing an authentically Catholic and classical education. JPG exists to form disciples of Jesus Christ through the formation of the whole person, rigorous academics, and a robust sports program. Rooted in truth and joy, we will graduate men and women prepared to witness to the truth, and equipped to lead virtuous lives at the service of the Church, our country, and the common good. Enrollment is approaching 200 students, drawn from more than 60 zip codes across the Denver metro area and will ultimately be capped at 400 students. More than $60 million has already been raised to support the development of a three-phase campus designed to serve our growing community.
The Role:
The Director of Student Services will participate in the full human formation of students by complementing the academic and mission formation initiatives at Saint John Paul the Great ("JPG"). The Director of Student Services will oversee the creation, buildout, and expansion of School Services offerings including college, career, and vocational counseling; college admissions and financial aid processes; referrals for socio-emotional needs and academic resources; and other tasks as needed to support student success. This position reports to and is evaluated by the Principal. The Director of Student Services serves as an agent of the intellectual and academic formation of students, and of school culture and discipleship in Jesus Christ.
This position is regular, full-time, exempt and reports to and is evaluated by the Principal. This is a salaried position requiring a consistent commitment from 7:30 am-3:30 pm ("the school day") when school is in session. The Director of Student Services will be required to attend key community events (such as Open House, graduations, etc.).
Candidate Profile & Responsibilities:
A strong candidate for this role must be a Catholic in good standing with the Catholic Church, who assents to the Church's teachings on all matters, with particular care for those concerning the nature of the human person, sexual ethics and sexual identity. The candidate shall possess a zeal for the Lord, living the faith in all aspects of life, with an ability to interact comfortably and authoritatively with students in a variety of settings and with collegiality with other JPG faculty and staff.
Responsibilities:
* With the Principal, manage the office of student services by overseeing the College and Career Counselor, School Counselor, and Learning Specialist
* Provide academic counseling/tracking of students (9th-11th)
* Create and track academic reports/data to ensure academic progress
* Become familiar with and maintain proficiency of FACTS Student Information System including reports, transcripts, scheduling, demographics, etc.
* Identify and track students who are on academic ineligibility or probation, manage system of mandatory tutoring sessions during the school day, and communicate student's academic status to parents
* Assist the Principal in the annual creation of courses and class schedules in FACTS
* Enroll students in classes and manage student schedules on an annual basis
* Coordinate standardized tests including the CLT
* Facilitate summer credit recovery for students who failed an academic class
* Build strong relationships with students that encourage students to strive for academic excellence, deepen their relationship with Christ, discern the presence of Christ in all things, and grow in virtue
* Demonstrate a desire to integrate the Catholic faith into all student conversations
* Participate in JPG co-curriculars, athletics, school functions, and events, as vocation and family life allow
* Participate in hiring processes to build out the Student Services team, when needed
* Other tasks as needed
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree required; a Master's degree preferred
* A minimum of 5 years of measurable professional experience related to role responsibilities
* Confidence in building out structures and processes; a "self-starting" approach to tasks; a willingness to "run with" tasks and reach out for support and collaboration as necessary"
* Competency in organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and communication; particularly proactive communication with parents and students
* A "team player" who is willing to actively contribute to the build-out of a successful start-up
