The San Damiano Spiritual Life Center located in White Post, VA is committed to the spiritual development of the Diocesan community through guided and directed prayer experiences, spirituality programs, evenings of theological reflection and retreats - all offering guests the opportunity to be renewed and refreshed. The Facility Manager reports to the Center's Director. The Facilities Manager is responsible for planning and implementing the facilities management and maintenance/preventive maintenance programs for the Center, including selecting, hiring, and overseeing maintenance contractors and vendors when work cannot be performed personally.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
• Maintains and repairs (personally or through outsourced resources) Center facilities and building systems - HVAC, water treatment, wastewater processing, fire protection, plumbing, electrical, pest control, and building envelope. Performs routine and moderately complex maintenance and repairs prior to outsourcing to contractors.
• Maintains and repairs (personally or through outsourced resources) Center grounds - parking lots, outdoor lighting, landscaping (lawns, bushes, and ornamental plantings), and ponds. Performs routine and moderately complex groundskeeping maintenance and repairs prior to outsourcing to contractors.
• Performs regular safety, security, and quality control inspections of facilities, building systems and grounds.
• Qualifies all service contractors; certifies that contractor work meets code and is on time, within budget and meets all quality standards.
• Assists Hospitality, as needed, in setting up the Center for various functions, helps to restore Center at conclusion of function.
• Obtains, and keeps current, all required state and local permits and licenses. Stays abreast of all applicable county, state and federal regulations and codes.
• Prepares recommendations for facilities portion of annual Center budget.
• Prepares multi-year schedule for replacing or upgrading Center building systems.
• Maintains appropriate repair and preventive service logs and records using digital or cloud-based tracking tools.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Knowledge/Skills: • Proficiency in the basic elements of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, and groundskeeping.Up to date knowledge and familiarity with all applicable code requirements.Extensive knowledge of "best practice" procedures, guidelines, and policies as applied to maintenance and repair of facilities, grounds, and building systems.Ability to oversee and qualify contractors.Strong oral and written communication skills.Ability to interact effectively and collaboratively with Center staff, guests, and vendors.Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
• Education Required: • A minimum of a high school degree. Technical school, trade school, or relevant certifications preferred.
• Years and Types of Experience: • 3 or more years' hands-on experience in general maintenance, building operations, or trades work (electrical, HVAC, carpentry, or related field).Additional trade certifications (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or building operations) desirable.
• Other: • The Facility Manager is considered essential personnel. As such, the Facility Manager should live within 30 minutes of the Center and must be able to respond swiftly to maintenance needs during weather events or other urgent conditions. In the event of extraordinary situations, normal operations and events at the Spirituality Center may be suspended in part or in whole. In such instances, those designated as Essential Personnel must fulfill their duties to 1) ensure the continuation of critical operations, 2) attend to the needs of current and expected guests, and 3) protect the assets of the Spirituality Center.
