Position Overview
St. Ephrem Catholic Academy is seeking a passionate, creative, and dedicated Middle School English Language Arts Teacher for grades 6 through 8. The ideal candidate will inspire students through engaging instruction in reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, literature, and critical thinking while supporting the spiritual, academic, emotional, and social development of each child.

Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum Teach English Language Arts to students in grades 6-8 Develop engaging lesson plans aligned with New York State Learning Standards and Catholic school curriculum guidelines Teach literature, reading comprehension, grammar, writing, vocabulary, and public speaking skills Foster critical thinking, creativity, and analytical writing through diverse instructional strategies Incorporate novels, project-based learning, collaborative activities, and technology into instruction Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of various learners and learning styles Prepare students for academic success through rigorous and engaging coursework Create assessments and provide meaningful feedback to students and families Classroom Environment Establish a structured, positive, and faith-centered classroom culture Maintain strong classroom management and high behavioral expectations Encourage collaboration, respect, and student engagement Build positive relationships with students while supporting their emotional and social growth Promote student confidence and leadership opportunities within the classroom Faith & Community Support and uphold the mission and values of Catholic education Integrate Catholic values into daily instruction and interactions with students Participate in school liturgies, prayer services, retreats, and community events Serve as a positive role model for students and families Collaboration & Communication Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and classroom expectations Collaborate with faculty and administration to support school initiatives and student success Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school events Work closely with colleagues to support interdisciplinary learning and academic initiatives Qualifications Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred New York State Teaching Certification preferred Experience teaching Middle School ELA preferred Strong classroom management and communication skills Ability to create engaging and creative lessons for adolescent learners Commitment to academic excellence and student-centered instruction Understanding and support of Catholic school philosophy and values Preferred Qualities
