St. Joseph School is seeking a dynamic and faith-filled Physical Education and Health Teacher. This educator will be responsible for delivering a developmentally appropriate PE and health curriculum to students in grades Nursery-8th Grade. This full-time position is for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year, with the opportunity to continue in a full-time role for the 2026-2027 school year. IMMEDIATE START!
Plan and implement engaging, age-appropriate physical education lessons for grades Nursery-8th Grade.
Teach basic movement skills, team sports, physical fitness, and cooperative games.
Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive attitude toward physical activity.
Assess student progress and provide regular feedback to students and parents.
Health Education Instruction for Grades 6-8:
Deliver a health curriculum that includes age-appropriate instruction on nutrition, hygiene, mental wellness, personal safety, and human development (in line with Catholic values and diocesan guidelines).
Incorporate Catholic moral teachings into topics relating to the human person and healthy decision-making.
Classroom and Program Management:
Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
Organize and lead school-wide physical activity events, such as Field Day or intramural activities.
Collaborate with classroom teachers and school leadership to support overall student wellness.
Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and diocesan trainings.
Have the desire to be a part of a close, supportive faith community
Be a practicing Roman Catholic and support the school's mission, vision, and policies
Qualifications: Required:
Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field.
Valid teaching certification (state licensure or in progress).
Strong classroom management skills and enthusiasm for working with children.
Preferred:
Prior teaching experience in a Catholic or faith-based school.
CPR/First Aid certification.
Working Conditions:
Teaching indoors (gymnasium/classroom) and outdoors (playgrounds/fields).
Physical demands include demonstrating exercises, lifting equipment, and active participation in student activities.
Salary is determined based on years of full-time classroom teaching experience and highest degree, in accordance with the DRVC Teacher Pay Scale. For the 2025-2026 school year, the salary will be prorated based on the employee's start date.
