Saint Joseph Academy seeks a dedicated Part-Time Elementary Latin Teacher to support our classical K-8 Latin program. This role introduces young students (primarily grades K-5/6) to Latin through engaging, age-appropriate methods, building language foundations, vocabulary, and appreciation for its role in Western civilization, English roots, and Catholic tradition. Responsibilities: Deliver introductory Latin lessons using recitation, songs, games, basic grammar, vocabulary, and simple reading Connect Latin to Catholic faith, virtues, and integrated curriculum (e.g., language arts) Foster a joyful, disciplined classroom that sparks wonder and participation Collaborate with elementary teachers and academic team Assess progress via recitations, informal evaluations, and projects Support school liturgical and community life as applicable Qualifications: Bachelor's degree preferred (preferably in Classics, Latin, Education, or related) Solid Latin proficiency (intermediate level minimum; teaching experience preferred) Passion for classical Catholic education and nurturing young learners Experience with elementary students strongly preferred Excellent classroom management, communication, and relational skills Alignment with the school's Christ-centered classical mission Classical pedagogy enthusiasm essential; credential a plus This part-time role (approx. 10-15 hours/week during school hours) offers competitive hourly pay and the opportunity to shape young minds in a faithful, classical setting.
