Position: Director of Finance Status: Full-Time Type: Ministerial Reports to Holy Family Cathedral Rector
The Director of Finance will oversee the financial management and planning for the parish and school. This role is instrumental in ensuring the long-term financial stability of the parish through strategic planning and fostering a culture of stewardship and generosity among parishioners.
Responsibilities:
1. Financial Management
-Manage all bookkeeping, budgeting, and monthly/quarterly reporting to ensure accurate, timely, and actionable financial information. -Oversee cash flow, reserves, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll compliance to protect parish resources. -Ensure that the appropriate financial processes and systems are in place or developed. -Maintain financial records and internal controls to safeguard assets and mitigate risk. -Review vendor contracts to maximize value, identify cost efficiencies, and ensure optimal resource allocation. -Provide financial updates to the Rector, as needed, highlighting trends and information that support effective parish operations and decision-making.
2. Planning and Capital Projects
-Develop multi-year financial projections and capital plans to support the parish's long-term mission. -Provide financial insight and recommendations to support major initiatives for the school, ministries, and the property. -Deliver planning updates that allow the Rector and leadership team to make informed, mission-focused decisions.
3. Development Support
-Support annual stewardship campaigns to strengthen parish resources and participation. -Oversee online giving and recurring contributions. -Report stewardship campaign progress to the Rector to inform planning and decisions.
4. Advisory & Collaboration
-Serve as a financial and stewardship advisor to the Rector, offering insights and recommendations to support informed decision-making and parish initiatives. -Support councils and ministry leaders to ensure programs align with the Rector's mission, goals, and priorities. -Provide timely updates to the Rector and councils, enabling proactive management of resources and effective planning.
Qualifications
-Practicing Catholic in good standing, with a deep respect for the Church's teachings and liturgical life -Bachelor's degree required; relevant experience in church administration, pastoral work, or ministry support -Working or professional knowledge and expertise of financial accounting -Financial analysis, modeling, and reporting expertise -QuickBooks or QuickBooks Online proficiency -Excellent written and verbal communication skills -High degree of discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism -Strong organizational and time-management skills -Proficiency with office software (Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace); experience with parish management software a plus
