Position Summary: We are seeking a mission driven, detail-oriented, and trustworthy Part-Time Business Manager to oversee the financial and administrative operations of our parish. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting skills, integrity, and the ability to work collaboratively with the pastor, staff, ministry leaders, and the Finance Council.
Key Responsibilities - Financial Management • Enter and manage accounts payable. • Enter deposits, prepare transfers, and deliver deposits to the bank. • Reconcile bank statements and verify financial balances. • Calculate and report collection amounts payable to the Diocese. • Maintain and reconcile Mass stipend records. • Prepare and submit postage reports. • Gather budget inputs from department heads and prepare the overall annual budget for Finance Council approval. Payroll & Benefits Administration • Process payroll, including Mass stipend payments. • Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries. • Ensure timely payments to employee benefits vendors and other payroll-related entities. • Maintain accurate payroll and benefits records. Accounting & Reporting • Close accounting periods and prepare monthly financial statements. • Maintain and update financial spreadsheets. • Prepare 1099s and required annual reporting. • Perform year-end adjustments and account reviews. • Monitor money market balances and initiate transfers as needed.
Administrative Support • Maintain organized financial records and filing systems. • Prepare checks for signature, ensure proper authorization, and distribute. • Communicate with parish staff, ministry leaders, St. Vincent de Paul, and local Catholic schools. • Attend Finance Council meetings and provide financial updates. • Participate in staff meetings and support administrative processes. Qualifications • Experience with ParishSoft and Paylocity preferred. • Strong bookkeeping and accounting skills. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel. • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. • Ability to manage confidential and sensitive information with discretion. • Experience in church or nonprofit financial management is a plus
