Family Theater Productions serves, celebrates, and uplifts the family through the power of faith and entertainment. For over 75 years, we've produced stories for the family, incorporating faith and inspired by the Catholic imagination. Today, we develop and produce authentic, heroic films, videos, and other media for family audiences that unlock the heart.
The Head of Features Production coordinates the development, funding, production, and distribution of faith-based and family films and television, according to the mission of Family Theater Productions/ Holy Cross Family Ministries. She/He facilitates and supervises the Feature Production Team based in Hollywood and ensures that other staff from both Easton and Hollywood are brought into media workflows at established points. Family Theater Productions team members work in-office at least four days a week, during standard hours, at our facility at 7201 Sunset Boulevard.
Essential Job Functions
•Coordinates the process of developing new projects that serve the mission/production priorities of Family Theater Productions. This involves working with producers and the National Director to identify stories, and to prepare select projects for inclusion on the slate.
•Works with producers to develop projects, including story funding, collaborations, and funding, moving them to production.
•Coordinates distribution of the FTP library of shows and present and future films and television shows.
•Facilitates a creative production team that is mission and audience driven, attentive to planning and calendaring, supportive and mutually accountable for achieving deadlines and increasing product quality and impact, committed to making the best use of the staff skills and ministry resources in light of the needs of our audiences.
•Becomes an expert in Family and Faith Based Family Media Content in a way that serves target audiences.
•Develop and maintain ongoing processes of project review that include internal (HCFM/FTP) and external sources (ratings, reviews, surveys, etc.) with the goal of ever-increasing audience impact and production quality.
•Coordinate the production team efforts, including production meetings, establishing workflows in advance in collaboration with other Senior Staff, establishing and monitoring workflows, project management, calendaring.
•Supervises workflows and manages deadlines in collaboration with other Senior Production and Support Department Heads.
•Create and adapt project management record-keeping and checklists with attention to: approvals and sign-offs, copyright and royalty records, migrating product to new formats, retrieval of media assets and other issues related to projects from conception to archiving.
•Supervises the Senior Producers, Feature Team Support staff and some contracted professionals, cast and crew on projects in which he/she functions as producer, some production interns and some production volunteers. The HOP reviews all selections of cast, crew and contracted professionals and ensures that necessary approvals for the hiring are obtained from The National Director and the HCFM Executive Team.
•Facilitates communication and collaboration among the various professionals in the Hollywood based production team and the Easton based professional team (External Relations, Accounting, Development...)
•Represent HCFM/FTP at events as assigned and in all public and Church or Entertainment Industry Functions and in all necessary media.
•Develop industry and church relationships for potentially mutually beneficial future collaborations with Family Theater Productions.
•Share the knowledge and experience of HFCM/FTP media research and production, for example in retreats, conferences, workshops, social media posts, Internet content or traditional media content according to the policies of HCFM.
•Remain current on media production issues that affect FTP projects and audiences.
•Work to maintain a professional office atmosphere that is reflective of a Christian Ministry setting.
Requirements
•BA and MFA in Film and Television Production, or related field.
•4-10 years' experience in media production with knowledge and experience in creating workflows for development through distribution of a project.
•Proficiency in written and verbal English, Bilingual (Spanish) preferred but not required.
•Highly organized and able to articulate what time and task management system the candidate uses or would use.
•Able to represent HCFM/FTP in a positive way at public media and ministry public events, some of them occasionally taking place in the evenings or weekends.
•Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
•Responsible and efficient in using technology to manage and schedule routine office operations and all associated events and activities.
•Proficiency with Word, Excel, Outlook, Final Draft, Power Point, SharePoint and the ability to learn a production management program.
•Ability to travel for HCFM/FTP related projects and events.
•Develop industry relationships for potentially mutually beneficial future collaborations with Family Theater Productions.
•Office conduct that is professional and reflective of the mission of Holy Cross Family Ministries.
•Knowledge, appreciation of and ability to work professionally in and publicly represent and promote the mission of Family Theater Productions, Holy Cross Family Ministries, The Congregation of Holy Cross and the Catholic Church.
