    Description

    About the Benedict XVI Institute

The Benedict XVI Institute for Sacred Music and Divine Worship was founded by our Chairman of the Board, Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone, with a big mission: to promote more beautiful and reverent liturgy that brings people to the Real Presence of Christ in the Mass. Our flagship Mass of the Americas, commissioned by Archbishop Cordileone and promoted by the Institute, has travelled to over 10 Cathedrals, debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts, and has become a symbol of the Catholic Renaissance in sacred music quietly unfolding.

We seek a deeply committed, detail-oriented, hardworking, passionate Catholic to assist us creatives with managing our growing, exciting, programs, someone who is willing to do whatever needs to be done, whenever it needs to be done, to help Archbishop Cordileone achieve this grand and important vision for revitalizing the Church in America through more reverent and beautiful liturgy. What is classically Catholic works. Will you work without ceasing for this Archbishop and this vision of evangelization through sacred beauty in the Mass?

    Overview:

The Director of the Reverent Liturgy Project leads one of the Benedict XVI Institute's most ambitious and spiritually vital initiatives: a national movement to inspire 500 or more parishes by 2028 to voluntarily adopt traditional liturgical practices that foster deeper reverence in the worship of Jesus Christ.

The project promotes-without mandating-practices such as kneeling to receive Communion, Communion on the tongue, ad orientem worship, Gregorian chant and traditional hymns (e.g., Te Deum, Immaculate Mary), all-male altar servers, and voluntary veiling for women. The Director holds full strategic and operational responsibility for the success and national expansion of this movement.

    Core Responsibilities:

    1. Growth Strategy & Community Building
    • Develop and execute strategies to build and engage a national community of priests, pastors, seminarians, deacons, and music directors committed to reverent liturgy.
    • Establish strong communication channels (e.g., email, Zoom, events) to form an ongoing network of active participants.
    • Track key engagement metrics such as: number of parishes adopting reverent practices, priests in the advisory circle, Zoom event participation, downloads of Reverent Liturgy Guides, etc.

    2. Major Gift Fundraising
    • Serve as a major gift officer for the project, raising a minimum of $250,000 annually from individuals (typically in the $1,000-$50,000 range).
    • Maintain active relationships with a portfolio of approximately 40 current and prospective donors via email, phone, and in-person visits.
    • Collaborate with staff and contractors to launch and grow a foundation fundraising arm for the project.

    3. Content Creation & Publishing
    • Revise and expand the Institute's forthcoming book on
    moving to more reverent liturgy.
    • Identify and interview priests who have implemented reverent practices.
    • Gather parish case studies to incorporate into the book and future PR/marketing materials.
    • Use these conversations to grow the advisory circle and informal network of project allies.
    • Create a series of short-form guides and content based on book chapters.

    4. PR, Media, and Campaigns
    • Develop and launch a PR strategy for the national release of the Strategic Guide in 2026.
    • Build a 2-3 year communications calendar with focused campaigns around specific practices.
    • Schedule and promote interviews with key clergy on Catholic radio, podcasts, and television.
    • Track outcomes such as event attendance, media placements, and new priest engagement.
    • Conceive and launch the "Moving to Reverent Liturgy" podcast and video series by July 2026.
    • Coordinate logistics, scripts, and promotional roll-out.

    5. Artist & Media Collaborations
    • Promote and build wraparound content with and for partners.
    • Work with the Executive Director to assemble a stable of Catholic writers to publish stories, essays, and op-eds in print, digital, and podcast outlets.
    • Manage the Institute's partnerships to grow sacred music programming nationwide.
