Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oxford, PA, is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and dynamic Director of Youth Evangelization. You must have a mature personal spiritual life that is grounded in prayer, frequent reception of the sacraments, and personal moral behavior that could serve as a strong example to teens. You must be well-formed in the theology and spirituality of the Catholic faith and be comfortable sharing your faith with others.
More About the Role: You will provide vision and coordination for the parish's efforts to lead teens closer to Christ. This ministry focuses on high school and middle school teens, grades 6-12. You will report directly to the pastor and will be responsible for implementing and coordinating the Life Teen and EDGE programs at Sacred Heart. Life Teen & EDGE--The goal of Life Teen and Edge is to provide a safe and fun place for youth to find a solid Catholic community, get answers to their questions, and, most importantly, to experience Jesus in a profound and personal way.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: • Recruit and manage the Life Teen and Edge Core Teams • Provide the training, support, and evaluation of these volunteers • Implement the Life Teen and Edge Curricula, which provide a systematic and intentional plan for catechesis that utilizes a creative variety of formats, settings, and timeframes • Coordinate the EDGE Middle School Program • Coordinate the Life Teen High School Program • Foster the involvement of young people in the life of the parish, including serving on various parish committees and being involved in parish activities and liturgies • Coordinate the outreach to and evangelization of all young people in the parish. • Serve as the liaison with the diocesan office of youth ministry and their programs, services and resources • With the approval of the pastor, coordinate fundraising efforts to support off-site youth events such as Steubenville Conferences, Summer Camp and Retreats • Spend time in relational ministry with the teens • Exhibit managerial, leadership, and organizational skills • Available for office hours for 40% of your time, and the remaining time would be out of the office visiting local middle school and high schools, visiting other local youth ministers, and developing relationships in the community • Collaborate with the parish Director of Religious Education on Confirmation plans for any Life Teen/EDGE teens • Organize, implement, and lead weekly Life Nights for the teens • Attend regular staff meetings • Communicate to staff about youth ministry activities • Be a resource person to the parish staff on issues related to youth and youth ministry • Serve as the liaison between the pastor to the parish council
Communication/Liaison Responsibilities • Parish Council-meetings once per year and provide a youth ministry report. • Parish Committees-communicate and collaborate with appropriate committees, i.e., liturgy, social justice, religious education, etc. • Parents and Parishioners-regular communication and seek input as appropriate. • Diocesan Offices-regular communications, adherence to diocesan policies, participation in archdiocesan professional organizations such as the Diocesan Association of Professional Youth Ministers. • Collaborate/Partner with other nearby parishes that are utilizing Life Teen/EDGE Resources for joint events/Life Nights when available.
Minimum Requirements: • A bachelor's degree in theology or Pastoral Ministry or related field, or a combination of education and experience, will be considered. Candidates may also have proven, well-documented experience as a youth minister in a Catholic Parish. • Demonstrates evidence of recent and continuing professional development through academic coursework, participation in workshops or conferences, etc. • Is a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church and willing to serve others in fulfilling the mission of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. • A self-starter that possesses good administrative, planning, and organizational skills, capable of managing multiple activities at the same time. • Possesses good public relations skills and can communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a variety of personalities positively and professionally • Ability to present to small or large groups and make phone calls and other person-to-person contacts. • Flexible schedule that would involve weekends, evenings, and other extended periods (e.g., summer camps, retreats). • Completion of Protecting God's Children Training, Virtus online training, and any additional Safe Environment Training that is required by the Diocese of Philadelphia before your start date.
Compensation & Benefits • This position is an exempt salaried role • Annual Salary: $50,000 • Monthly cell phone stipend • As a full-time employee, the parish will contribute a fixed dollar amount toward the annual health insurance premium, as determined each year by the Finance Council. • Employees are responsible for 100% of the cost to include dependents • 20+ Paid Holidays / Holy Days a Year • 12 Days Paid Time Off, scaling higher with seniority • Paid staff adoration time 2 hours/month • Business Laptop provided upon request (MacBook or PC)
