The College of St. Joseph the Worker in Steubenville, Ohio is seeking a skilled and mission-driven Journeyman Plumber to join our growing trades program. This role is ideal for a craftsman who excels in residential and/or commercial plumbing work and who desires to mentor the next generation of tradesmen within a faithfully Catholic educational environment.
POSITION OVERVIEW The Journeyman Plumber will perform and supervise field installations alongside students enrolled in the College's plumbing program. This includes hands-on project work, ensuring proper technique, upholding safety standards, and-when needed-assisting instructors with classroom or lab-based Related Instruction. This role requires integrity, patience, professionalism, and a genuine desire to form young tradesmen both in technical competence and personal character.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Perform residential and/or commercial plumbing installations and service tasks. - Supervise, mentor, and guide students during on-site installations and lab sessions. - Assist faculty with classroom or lab instruction as needed. - Create accurate material take-offs and coordinate material procurement through local suppliers. - Maintain jobsite organization, safety protocols, and accurate documentation. - Support the mission, culture, and formation goals of the College.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - 2-4 years of journeyman-level plumbing experience in residential or commercial settings. - Skilled in installing and assembling various piping materials and systems. - Strong organizational and communication skills. - Experience supervising apprentices on active job sites. - Ability to read and interpret plumbing drawings, prints, and isometrics. - Competent in material take-offs and coordinating orders with suppliers. - Demonstrated integrity, work ethic, and patience-particularly when mentoring developing tradesmen.
