St. Paul's Newman Center is seeking a motivated and experienced Development Officer to join the team. This role will aid in expansion of the development program and enable growth of the Catholic Campus Ministry at North Dakota State University.
The Development Officer is a fundamental member of the Development Team. This individual will represent the Newman Center to ignite benefactors to support the mission of evangelization on the campus of NDSU. As one of the top Newman Centers in the nation, it is essential for the Development Officer to understand the value of Catholic campus ministry, and be effective in communicating our mission of Changing Hearts, Changing Lives, and Forming Future Leaders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Execute a comprehensive and strategic plan to fulfill the current annual ministry needs through financial contributions Manage a personal portfolio of key donors, focusing on deepening relationships and securing support for sustainable growth. This is mainly done through scheduling and conducting meaningful in-person visits to fulfill the donors' philanthropic needs/desires Assist with Development programming to achieve established goals in the areas of: Major Gifts, Sustained Giving and Planned Giving Engage with staff to identify ministry needs while translating them into impactful donor engagement opportunities Stay informed on latest trends to anticipate potential for financial growth, as well as anticipate forecasted struggles and work to create solutions Passionately present the Newman Center story to individuals, groups, and parishes to inspire support for the growth of the mission Provide aid with fundraising events (Banquets, Giving Hearts Day, Bike Race), as well as evaluate and establish new fundraising event opportunities
REQUIREMENTS
Sound knowledge of the Catholic Faith and commitment to the sacramental life. Non-profit fundraising experience, sales experience or the willingness to learn Exceptional relationship building, communication and storytelling skills High ethical standards and respect for donor confidentiality Ability to work independently and manage time and priorities effectively Organization and problem-solving, with high attention to detail Ability to travel as needed Proficiency of fundraising software and database management systems is preferred If applicable, a relocation to the Fargo area.
