Position Overview: St. Ephrem Catholic Academy is seeking a dynamic, dedicated, and student-centered Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher for Grades 6-8. The ideal candidate will inspire a love of reading and writing, foster critical thinking, and guide students to become confident communicators.
Responsibilities:
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging ELA lessons aligned with NYS Standards and the Catholic curriculum framework.
Teach reading comprehension, literature, grammar, vocabulary, and writing skills to middle school students.
Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and styles.
Create a classroom environment that promotes respect, active learning, and academic growth.
Integrate faith and values into daily lessons where appropriate.
Utilize various assessment tools to monitor and evaluate student progress.
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
Collaborate with fellow teachers, staff, and administration to support student success and school initiatives.
Participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide events.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
NYS Teaching Certification in ELA Grades 7-12 (or Grades 5-9) strongly preferred.
Prior experience teaching middle school ELA is highly desirable.
Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
Commitment to Catholic education and willingness to support the mission and values of St. Ephrem Catholic Academy.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
