BOOKKEEPER, PARISH
The parish bookkeeper is responsible for management, record keeping, and reporting obligations of all parish financial matters. Additional responsibilities may include other clerical tasks as needed.
Summary of essential job functions • Maintains accurate filing • Record keeping and reporting system for parish financial matters • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports for parish and diocese as needed • Prepares bank deposits • Processes invoices • Reconciles accounts • Prepares, administers and reviews budget in collaboration with finance council, pastor, and other committees
Minimum requirements • Associates degree in accounting or applicable experience as a full-charge bookkeeper • Coursework in business administration, accounting or finance • Knowledge of accrual accounting and financial statement preparation and analysis • 2 years full charge bookkeeping experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience • Must comply with diocesan policies, including completing sexual abuse training, and abide by the Standard Code of Conduct, Technology Policy, and Social Media Policy
Knowledge, skills and abilities required • Knowledge of accounting, bookkeeping, and budgetary principles and practices • Proficiency in computer use and database management (e.g. Word, Excel) • Knowledge of, or ability to learn, programs such as Parish Data System • Ability to operate office equipment • Ability to honor and maintain confidentiality • Ability to work collaboratively with co-workers, councils, committees, and volunteers • Respect for the teachings and traditions of the Roman Catholic faith
Physical demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Position involves extended periods working at a computer, oftentimes sitting, and occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds. Must be able to move about an office environment and be able to operate office equipment (phone, fax, photocopier, printer, computer, etc.).

Employment Type: Part-time, Non-exempt Hours: 15-18 hours per week. Pay Rate: $23-27/hr. Reports to: Pastor
