We are seeking an experienced cook to provide simple, yet healthy meals to our small Marian community in Thompson, CT. Daily preparation of weeknight dinners, (and ideally prepping the next day's lunch) is preferred. The successful candidate will be flexible in his/her food repertoire and contribute to the overall health of the community.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Cooking for 3 -- 4 men three to five evenings per week • Keep kitchen and pantry clean, including the stove, refrigerator, freezer, microwave and other equipment, i.e., proper overall kitchen sanitation • Properly store leftovers for later consumption • Knowledge of food preparation and clean-up • Able to creatively transform leftovers into lunch for the next day • Must be comfortable cooking on a gas stove and using vent hood
Members of the community will handle meal planning and food shopping. The successful candidate will be able to deftly prepare, cook and serve meals
Qualifications:
Education - Minimum - High school diploma or equivalent; knowledge of sanitary food preparation and proper clean-up required
Experience - 5+ years cooking in a cafeteria, restaurant or similar institution.
