The Catholic Parishes of the Portland Peninsula and Islands are seeking a Faith Formation Assistant to provide administrative support for faith formation activities.
Through effective communication with staff and parishioners and attention to administrative detail, the Faith Formation Assistant helps support an administrative backbone for activities that nourish education and growth in the Catholic faith in Portland, Maine.
Key responsibilities include:
Maintaining communication lists and organizing faith formation registration Assisting in collecting records for sacrament preparation Serving as a point of contact for faith formation inquiries Assisting in communicating with faith formation families Assists with faith formation event logistics and organization as needed The Faith Formation Assistant reports directly to the Director of the Portland Catholic Center for Faith and works at the Pastoral Office, which is located at the Cathedral property on 307 Congress Street in Portland.
The position is part-time, non-exempt (15 hours/wk).
Qualifications
The successful candidate is a practicing Roman Catholic who supports the mission of the Church, has administrative experience, and pays close attention to detail. He or she also should be an effective communicator and have excellent interpersonal skills. Experience working in administrative role and/or in a Catholic parish preferred.
About the Portland Peninsula and Island Parishes
The Roman Catholic community on the Portland Peninsula and Islands is comprised of five parishes: The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Sacred Heart/St. Dominic Parish, St. Peter's Parish, St. Louis Parish, and St. Christopher Parish. These parishes are served by a team of priests and staff, who collaborate with volunteers and other organizations to guide and support the ongoing life and ministry of a community of over 4,000 Catholics in the greater Portland area. The Portland Catholic Center for Faith is the hub for all faith formation activities of the Portland Peninsula and Island Parishes, seeking to build up faith in both children and adults in the Portland area.
