The Business Manager is responsible for ensuring smooth operations and directing all resources toward its mission of evangelization. This position demands a distinctive set of skills, given its pivotal role in the ongoing revitalization of the parish. They will skillfully coordinate projects and administer Parish resources to support the ministry goals of the Parish. They are responsible for the budget, finances, and facilities, which are managed in collaboration with the Pastor, other staff members, and volunteers.
The Business Manager executes their role in the service of the greater goal of advancing the authentic Christian mission of the Parish and a deeper living of the Gospel in the lives of Parishioners.
Responsibilities
General Administration
Coordinate projects to ensure alignment with ministry objectives.
Ensure that facilities and finances are best used at the service of the Parish's mission
Supervise the bookkeeper per the direction of the Pastor
Document and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures for the role.
Attend Finance Council, Staff Meetings, and other meetings directed by the Pastor.
Review, negotiate, and oversee the execution of all parish-related contracts.
Seek opportunities for continuous improvement of processes, enhance efficiency, and ensure the parish's resources are used optimally.
Provide advice and perform other tasks or special projects as requested by the Pastor.
Policy and Compliance
Oversee policy & procedures for finances and HR according to Archdiocesan guidelines
Fulfill requirements for charitable gaming.
Oversee the systems and management of necessary Parish records (e.g. safe environment, warranties, background checks, finances)
Financial
Oversee payroll and retirement contributions.
Oversee the creation and review of yearly, quarterly, and summer school budgets with relevant stakeholders.
Manage bookkeeping, accounting, banking, purchasing, and related procedures.
Familiarize with financial software for reporting and management.
Oversee payables and receivables
Track offerings and school-related finances (tuition, cafeteria program, tuition assistance).
Oversee the annual stewardship pledge drive.
Convene with the Pastor for regular financial reviews.
Guide cash flow and investments.
Monthly finance review, analysis, and reporting.
Oversee the preparation of scheduled Archdiocesan financial reports.
Facilities
Be the primary contact for building and construction matters.
Oversee policies for the use and rental of Parish facilities.
Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to ensure grounds and facilities are maintained
