Cardinal Kung Academy is a classical, college preparatory school registering seventh through twelfth grade students. The academically rigorous Catholic school is part of the Bridgeport diocese and is located in Stamford, CT, a short train ride from NYC. The program emphasizes reading original texts, use of the Socratic method, an integrated humanities curriculum, and an appreciation of the arts.
We anticipate an opening in teaching two sections of art (each 47 mintues per week) in the second semester, beginning January 2026. The course is designed as teaching methods in creating art while gaining an appreciation of art history. A particular emphasis is placed upon developing a sense of the beautiful as a transcendental, rather than a mere matter of taste.
The ideal candidate is an energetic, joyful and organized instructor responsible for planning, preparing, teaching, grading and sharing his/her love for the Great Books and the Church. He or she recognizes and appreciates the unique developmental state of middle school students and is willing to adjust teaching methods to take advantage of it. (For reference, one might consult Dorothy Sayers' "Lost Tools of Learning.") Candidates need at least a bachelor's degree and experience teaching art at the middle or high school level. Faculty and staff sign an oath of fidelity to the Magisterium and statement of faith (Nicene Creed).
Our school is in its eighth year and we expect significant growth in the coming years, so applicants will have advancement opportunities. If you enjoy small class sizes, a close faithful community, and engaging students please send your resume to the attention of Dr. Alexander Miller at [email protected] .
