    POSITION TITLE: Regional Business Manager - Parish & School
    JOB CLASSIFICATION: Exempt / Full-Time
    REPORTS TO: Director of Shared Services, Diocese of Orange
    DEPARTMENT: Shared Services
    PAY RANGE: $80,000 - $95,000 annually, depending on experience, education and qualifications

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The position of Business Manager for both the parish and school requires management and oversight of all financial and administrative activities at both sites. This includes budgeting, forecasting, payroll, human resources, financial reporting, facilities oversight, and all accounting functions. The Business Manager will be responsible for coordinating operations five days per week during regular business hours, supporting the mission of both the parish and school, and ensuring effective communication and stewardship across both entities. This role serves as a key liaison with diocesan offices (Finance, Audit, HR, Risk Management, Schools), parish and school leadership, banking institutions, and the wider parish and school communities. The position demands sound financial management, discretion, and the ability to handle confidential matters with professionalism.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Because all Roman Catholic Bishop of Orange employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work.

    • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with diocesan financial policies and procedures.
    • Prepare and manage parish and school budgets; provide monthly financial statements and forecasts.
    • Oversee internal controls for financial processes including cash handling, disbursements, and reconciliations.
    • Administer and manage accounting software systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Aplos, FACTS) for accounts payable/receivable and tuition collections.
    • Process and oversee payroll; ensure compliance with diocesan guidelines and employment policies.
    • Support human resource functions including onboarding, compliance, performance reviews, and volunteer guidelines.
    • Supervise and support parish and school staff including office, maintenance, and accounting personnel.
    • Manage vendor relationships and coordinate timely payments, including preparation of 1099 forms.
    • Provide reports and information for external audits and diocesan reviews.
    • Support and attend pastoral, parish, school board, and finance council meetings.
    • Lead or assist with promotional and outreach activities for parish and school growth.
    • Monitor facilities and support operational maintenance activities.
    • Support with financial aid awards
    • Assist admissions/enrollment on an as-needed basis
    • Help with parent billing/reimbursement questions
    • Occasionally attend events to promote Catholic education
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance preferred.
    • 3-5 years of relevant business, finance, or administrative leadership experience.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Proficient in accounting and office software, including QuickBooks, FACTS, Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Experience in basic HR management and payroll administration.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a faith-based environment.
    • Understanding of Catholic social teaching and its application in parish and school operations.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • To perform duties of the job, the employee may on a regular basis be required to stand, sit, talk, hear/listen, reach, stoop, kneel and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, keyboard and other office equipment. Close vision requirements apply due to the nature of computer work.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Typical Working Conditions: Office environment
    Equipment Used: Basic computer equipment, keyboard, mouse, telephone, copier, facsimile, calculator and paper shredder.
    Essential Physical Tasks: Verbal communication, movement around office, remain stationary, reach, and occasionally carry materials as needed weighing up to 30 lbs.
