Job Title: Youth Ministry Coordinator

Job Type: Part-Time (up to 29 hours)

Reports To: Director of Faith Formation
Pay: $20-$24/hour
Description: The Youth Ministry Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing programs and activities that support the spiritual, social, and emotional development of high school-aged youth within the parish community - specifically the parish's High School Youth Group and Confirmation Preparation catechesis program. This role aims to create a vibrant faith-centered environment where youth can grow in their relationship with God, each other, and the Church.
Youth Ministry is above all relational but must also operate within an organized and consistent program. A high degree of interpersonal skills are necessary, including the ability to recruit and motivate new youth and young adult catechists. The Youth Ministry Coordinator both organizes the people and events that serve to evangelize our youth and their families, and he/she also engages in direct relational ministry to youth and young adults.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with the Youth Confirmation Minister under the supervision of the Director of Faith Formation to assure the development of programs and activities for high school youth for the purposes of fellowship and sacramental catechesis that foster healthy growth and development in their spiritual, social, physical and family lives (e.g., retreats, religious education classes, and service opportunities).
Serve as backup staff for Youth Confirmation Minister and assistant as needed.
Design and manage engaging faith formation programs tailored for high school students, including weekly meetings, retreats, service projects, and social events - overseeing the confirmation classes, retreats, recruit team members, and help organize Confirmation Masses.
Develop and deliver content that is relevant, age-appropriate, and aligned with traditional Catholic teachings.
Build strong, supportive relationships with youth throughout the parish, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
Recruit, train, and support adult volunteers and peer leaders who assist with youth group activities.
Develop relationships between the parish and the local community in schools (groups, clubs, etc.).
Schedule and coordinate events, meetings, and activities.
Develop and distribute promotional materials, including bulletin ads, social media updates, and event flyers, to keep youth and their families informed and engaged.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of youth programs through feedback from participants, parents, and volunteers to adapt and refine programs based on feedback and changing needs of the youth.
Schedule events and classes in the parish reservation system.
Prepare and manage the budget for youth ministry activities and programs.
Ensure compliance with diocesan policies and safety procedures.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in theology / religious education / or a related field preferred.
Experience: Prior experience in religious education or youth ministry, particularly with youth , is desirable.
Skills:
Strong understanding of Catholic doctrine and teaching.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to engage and inspire children and their families.
Proficiency in using technology for educational and administrative purposes.
