Purpose: Assist the Director of Financial Aid in administering federal, state, and institutional financial aid funds and services, and oversee document management. Determine student eligibility for various types of financial aid; awards and distributes funds that apply. Assist and provide direction for the operational functions of the department and manage department work-study staff as appropriate.
Essential Job Duties:
Provide leadership and assist in all stages of the applicant process, including analyzing applications, determining eligibility and packaging financial aid, compiling internal and external reporting, entering data, and reviewing satisfactory academic progress of students.
Assist in the finalization of all financial aid packages.
Provide detailed information to students and families on application procedures and eligibility for aid, costs and affordability options, and institutional, state and federal aid policies and procedures.
Manage assigned financial aid programs and provide reporting to internal and external partners.
Administer the college's Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) policy with the assistance of the Director.
Assist the Director of Financial Aid in preparing for audits.
Assist the Director of Financial Aid with maintaining industry best practices by staying in compliance with federal and state regulations.
Provide support in identifying departmental needs and implementing policies and procedures.
Processes withdrawal and readmit paperwork utilizing Federal databases to monitor loan history, determine FAFSA completion and calculate federal refund/return amounts.
Assist in maintaining all forms of communications (phone, email, website, forms, brochures, social media, etc.) to ensure policies and procedures are clear, updated, and within compliance with federal and state regulations.
Assist the Director of Financial Aid with any additional duties as needed to ensure compliance and management of the financial aid office.
Minimum Education, Skills, and Ability:
Bachelor's Degree
Two to three years of experience working in a financial aid office
Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations governing various types of aid.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in various settings (one on one, small groups, and public presentations).
Highly motivated and self-directed with the ability to collaborate with a diverse group of
students, parents and colleagues.
Possess a high attention to detail with experience in managing complex projects
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to maintain records, assemble and organize data, and to prepare reports
Experience with system platforms and operations including Jenzabar, EMPOWER, Slate etc.
Considerable skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with officials, employees, students and associates; ability to effectively convey and exchange information.
Experience with data analysis and creating reports.
