    Description

    About Chelsea Academy:
Chelsea Academy is a joyful, faith-centered, independent Catholic liberal arts school dedicated to forming confident young men and women-eloquent, humble, and virtuous leaders rooted in the
authentic Catholic intellectual tradition. Through a rigorous academic program, a vibrant spiritual life featuring daily prayer and weekly Mass, and a steadfast commitment to the whole person-mind,

rooted in charity, embrace adventure with courage, and grow in both faith and knowledge.

    Position Overview:
Chelsea Academy invites applications for a full-time Second Grade Teacher for the upcoming
academic year. The ideal candidate will be a passionate educator and servant leader who embraces
the school's mission and values, fostering a classroom environment that cultivates curiosity, kindness,
and a love of learning. The Second Grade Teacher will guide students in developing foundational
skills across core subjects while nurturing their moral and spiritual growth.

    Responsibilities:
    • Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons in reading, writing, mathematics, religion, science,
and history, aligned with Chelsea Academy's classical and faith-based curriculum.
    • Maintain a joyful, disciplined, and supportive learning environment that encourages perseverance,
    charity, and servant leadership.
    • Assess progress through thoughtful formative and summative evaluations, providing the constructive
feedback necessary to support individual student flourishing.
    • Work closely with colleagues, parents, and administrators to ensure the holistic development of
    every child.
    • Participate actively in school liturgies, assemblies, and community events as a visible and invested
    member of the faculty.

    About Our Second Grade Schedule:
Our second-grade program follows a dynamic, well-balanced daily schedule designed to nurture
academic growth and holistic development. The school day runs from 8:10 AM to 3:27 PM and
    includes:

    Core Instruction:
    • Mornings are dedicated to deep dives into English/Language Arts and Mathematics, ensuring
consistent growth in essential literacy and numeracy.
    • The curriculum is rounded out by Science and History, with weekly "specials" in Music, Art,
Physical Education, and Handwriting. On Fridays, students expand their horizons with dedicated
    Geography lessons.
    • Daily Religion classes are the heartbeat of the schedule. Every Thursday, we welcome parent
volunteers for "Read Aloud" sessions, and each week concludes with a "Fun Friday" period to
    celebrate student achievements.
    • A structured lunch and recess block (11:00 AM - 12:00 PM) provides vital time for students to
recharge and build friendships through play.

    Qualifications & Requirements:
    • A practicing Catholic in good standing with a deep commitment to the mission and identity of
    Chelsea Academy.
    • Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field; teaching certification or equivalent
experience in elementary education is preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage a classroom with both charity and discipline, focusing on results
while maintaining a focus on the "whole child."
    • A team player with strong communication and organizational skills, able to build meaningful
relationships with students, parents, and staff.
    • A flexible, enthusiastic "servant leader" who finds joy in working with young learners and is willing to
engage in the broader life of the school (activities, events, etc.).
    • A strong resonance with Chelsea's values and a desire to enforce school policies with empathy and
    grace.
The schedule rotates specials throughout the week, ensuring students receive a well-rounded
education while maintaining consistent core instruction in literacy and mathematics each morning.

    Application Process:
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, salary expectations and contact
information for three professional references to Dr. Diarmuid T. Wheeler, Headmaster,
at [email protected]. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the
    position is filled.
