Position: Parish Bookkeeper Location: Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Parish, Gulf Shores, Alabama Reports to: Pastor FLSA Status: Part-Time, Hourly, Non-Exempt ________________________________________ Position Summary The Parish Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for Our Lady of the Gulf Parish in accordance with Archdiocesan policies. This position supports the Pastor in the stewardship of parish resources and ensures timely reporting, transparency, and confidentiality in all financial matters. ________________________________________ Primary Responsibilities Financial Recordkeeping • Maintain parish general ledger and chart of accounts • Record weekly offertory collections and other parish income • Process accounts payable and prepare checks for Pastor's approval • Prepare and record bank deposits • Reconcile all bank and investment accounts monthly Payroll & Benefits • Process payroll for parish employees • Maintain payroll records • Coordinate employee benefits as needed Financial Reporting • Prepare financial statements for the Pastor and Finance Council • Assist in preparation of the annual parish budget • Provide financial documentation for Archdiocesan reporting • Assist with annual audit or review processes Contribution Records • Maintain parishioner contribution records • Prepare and distribute annual contribution statements • Ensure confidentiality of donor information Compliance & Internal Controls • Support Finance Council with financial oversight • Maintain secure and organized financial records • Ensure proper cash-handling procedures are followed • Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor • Perform other duties as assigned ________________________________________ Qualifications • A Catholic in good standing with the Church and living a life in harmony with the Catholic faith, or a non-Catholic living in accord with Catholic beliefs regarding human life, sexuality and marriage. • Bachelor's degree in business or accounting preferred • Minimum of three years of bookkeeping experience • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Word, and Excel • Ability to learn and use parish database systems (Ministry Platform experience a plus) • Knowledge of general accounting principles, including general ledger and journal entries • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality ________________________________________ Schedule Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. ________________________________________ To Apply All candidates should email a resume and salary requirements to: Rev.
