The Assistant Director of Evangelization & Faith Formation, under the leadership of the Pastor and in collaboration with the Director of Evangelization and Faith Formation, serves the parish's three-fold implementation of the New Evangelization: the continuing formation of the faithful as intentional disciples; outreach to non-practicing Catholics; and, the evangelization of those who do not know Christ. He/she helps to ensure that all parish apostolates are done in a missionary key, fostering an encounter with Christ through the Church. The position involves regular evening and weekend commitments.
Responsibilities for Evangelization -Helps coordinate implementation of the New Evangelization -Supports outreach to non-practicing Catholics -Assists with initiatives aimed at primary evangelization -Helps fosters pastoral work in a missionary key among all parish apostolates
Responsibilities for Adult Faith Formation -Helps form adult parishioners to be missionary disciples -Assists adult faith formation programs including OCIA, Thomistic Institute, Bible studies, etc. -Provides opportunities for formation geared especially to young adults -Supports large and small fellowship groups -Assists marriage and baptism preparation, and religious education parent formation -Helps manage Campus Ministry at George Mason University Arlington Campus -Helps recruit and support volunteer catechists and leaders
Responsibilities for Religious Education (Grades K-6) -Supports Family Faith Formation program -Assists with sacramental preparation -Helps recruit and support volunteer catechists and leaders
Responsibilities for Youth Ministry (Grades 7-12) -Supports middle school and high school programs -Assists with sacramental preparation -Helps recruit and support volunteer catechists and leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Experience -Experience in evangelization including in the formation of intentional disciples -Experience in adult, youth, and child faith formation -Zeal for personal holiness and for the mission of the Church, including faithfulness to the Church's Magisterium -Knowledge of Church teaching -Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills -Conversational Spanish desired
