St. Joseph's Preparatory is a Catholic, Jesuit, independent four-year college preparatory school located on the northern edge of center city Philadelphia. Founded in 1851, this highly selective, all male school serves nearly 1,000 young men "to become men for and with others." Students come from diverse economic, geographic, racial and ethnic backgrounds from throughout the Philadelphia metropolitan area. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Admission Counselor will assist the Vice President and Director of Admissions in the student recruitment and admissions process. This is a 10-month, part-time (24-28 hour per week) position. There are also some night and weekend hours, requiring a level of flexibility.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain and organize the Office of Admission database (prospective students, applicants, admission process/funnel, visitors, etc.), letter production, group mailings, reports, and other documents using computer systems Welcome all prospective student visitors and family members to the Office of Admission Help lead prospective family tours Schedule classroom and nightly visits/recruitment trips to regional grade schools Represent the Prep at various grade school visits and neighborhood receptions Assist with the incoming freshmen admission-review process Respond to all telephone calls and emails regarding information requests for Admissions and Financial Aid processes Assist with all aspects of the transfer application process Help plan, prepare, and execute the following events with members of the Marketing/Admissions staff: o New Student Orientation o 8th Grade HAWKLIFE Shadow Visits o The Pre-Prep Test Program o Open House o 8th Grade Entrance Exam o Scholars Dinner o Class of 2023 Information Night o 6th & 7th Grade Practice Exam o Incoming Student Placement Tests o 7th Grade HAWKLIFE Shadow Visits o 7th Grade Leadership Conference o Incoming Family & Student Academic Counselor Meetings o The Pre-7th & Pre-8th Grade Summer Program Perform other duties as assigned by the VP
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Familiarity with Jesuit education and Ignatian spirituality Bachelor's degree One to two years of experience in a secondary school Admissions Office a plus Excellent verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated presentation and public-speaking skills Friendly demeanor Strong computer skills/ability to navigate software programs and application (Microsoft Suite, Google Platform, etc.)
