Bishop Thomas K. Gorman Catholic School announces an opening for a high school English teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.
The qualified candidate will possess the ability to bring the good, the true, and beautiful to life. He/She will have a deep love for Christ and His Church, and the entire Deposit of Faith. He/She will have a sincere desire to teach in a Roman Catholic school and will unite Faith and Reason in his/her instruction.
Preference will be given to licensed candidates with a Master's Degree and three or more years of teaching experience.
Salary will be commensurate with experience. Signing bonuses and relocation expenses are negotiable.
Candidates will: • Demonstrate a love for the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church, and support for the mission of Bishop Thomas K. Gorman Catholic School to form saints and missionaries • Understand how English is a key component in teaching the Liberal Arts • Demonstrate strong communication skills • Assess student progress and provide feedback on their academic performance • Communicate with parents or guardians regarding student progress and any concerns • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and assessments • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment • Utilize technology and other resources to enhance the learning experience • Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners • Must undergo a background check and complete the Ethics and Integrity Program of the Diocese of Tyler, Texas • Possess or be willing to obtain a valid Texas teaching certificate • Bachelor's degree in English; Master's degree preferred
Preference given to candidates who can also teach Theology or other Humanities
