Mary Immaculate is a Catholic elementary school (PreK4-8) in the Diocese of Dallas, located in the heart of Farmers Branch, TX. Mary Immaculate School is currently seeking a 6th Grade English, Literature & History Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.
The teacher will guide students in developing strong reading, writing, critical thinking, and historical analysis skills while fostering a love for literature and an understanding of world history and cultures.
Responsibilities • Teach 6th Grade English Literature and History courses. • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards. • Promote strong reading comprehension, writing, and analytical skills. • Encourage discussion, critical thinking, and historical inquiry. • Incorporate a variety of instructional strategies and learning activities. • Assess student progress through assignments, projects, tests, and presentations. • Maintain a structured, respectful, and supportive classroom environment. • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress. • Collaborate with colleagues and participate in faculty meetings and school activities.
Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in English, History, or Education. • Experience teaching upper elementary students preferred. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Effective classroom management skills. • Commitment to the mission of Catholic education.
Preferred Qualifications • Experience with literature circles or writing workshops • Ability to integrate technology into instruction. • Familiarity with differentiated instruction and student-centered learning
