Are you passionate about evangelizing young adults (age 18-30s) and forming them into missionary disciples in order to build up the Church and transform the world?
The Assistant Mission Director works with the Mission Director to form a community of young adults in the South Bend area. Together, you spearhead our efforts as full-time missionaries to local young men and women. You witness and proclaim the Good News to young adults in order to set their hearts ablaze, guide and journey with them as disciples following the Lord, and equip them to become missionaries to their peers. All programs are accomplished through developing leaders from within the community.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES - The overarching responsibility is the evangelization, accompaniment, and formation of young adults to produce missionary disciples within a peer community. This responsibility is shared as a team with the Mission Director and other Assistant Mission Directors. - Activities must engage English-speakers and bilingual Spanish-speakers in ways that are culturally relevant to the young adult community. - Pre-Evangelization: lead community activities that reach the unevangelized in order to provide a Christian witness that opens their hearts to the Gospel. - Evangelization: lead activities that explicitly proclaim the Gospel in compelling ways, such as our Alive Series. - Discipleship: lead activities that provide spiritual, intellectual, and human formation for disciples, such as small-group bible studies and large-group talks, retreats, and pilgrimages. - Apostleship: lead activities that provide apostolic formation to turn disciples outward to become missionary, such as our Intentional Discipleship Series and the Called & Gifted Process. - Community: spend time building close relationships with local young adults, both individually and in group settings, in order to apprentice them in the faith and provide pastoral care as situations arise. - Partnerships: collaborate with the local diocese, parishes, and/or other organizations that partner with us for joint events. - Peer Leaders: recruit and train young adults to form leadership teams that plan and implement the above activities. - Communications: manage email lists, create newsletters, post to digital media channels, message WhatsApp groups, and edit webpages as needed.
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS - Fluency in English is required, fluency in Spanish is a plus - Catholic and passionate about evangelization and making disciples - Ability to take initiative, work independently, and meet deadlines - Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize responsibilities - Excellent verbal and written communication and well-developed interpersonal skills - Ability to collaborate and maintain working relationships within the organization - Able to think critically in order to evaluate relevant information, recognize potential issues for concern, recognize alternatives, and reach logical conclusions - Skilled in managing digital media accounts and basic graphic design - Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE - Master of Divinity or Master of Theology - Two years of experience in mission or ministry with young adults - Familiarity with common evangelization programs/organizations
MISSION LOCATION: - South Bend, Indiana (must live within 10 miles) - In-person activities & prep/planning at home - Schedule includes most weekday evenings & weekends
