    Description

    Remote | Part-Time | Independent Contractor

    About the Apostolate
The Apostolate for Marital Intimacy, Inc. is a Catholic nonprofit dedicated to renewing marital intimacy in faithful obedience to the teachings of the Catholic Church. Through education, formation, coaching, and outreach, we serve married couples and those discerning marriage, addressing the shame, confusion, and isolation that often surround marital intimacy.

We are seeking a Fundraiser & Grant Writer who believes in this mission and can translate it into concrete, measurable financial support.

This is a results-driven role. Relationship-building matters, but effectiveness is measured by funds raised.

    Role Overview

The Fundraiser & Grant Writer is responsible for leading AMI’s fundraising and development efforts, with particular emphasis on short-term results during an initial probationary period and long-term sustainability thereafter.

This is an independent contractor role with wide freedom in determining methods, strategy, and execution. You may work for other organizations. You will be evaluated on outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Primary Ownership
      • Grant research, writing, submission, and follow-up.
      • Donor outreach and cultivation.
      • Fundraising appeals and campaigns.
      • Donor segmentation and follow-up.
      • Development strategy and execution.
    • Collaborative Support
      • Support donor-facing newsletters and content in collaboration with the blog editor.
      • Coordinate fundraising messaging with the Executive Director and Outreach team.

Infrastructure You Will Be Working With

    • Donation platform: Donorbox.
    • Existing email list: 500+ subscribers.
    • Google Ads Grant available.
    • High autonomy, minimal hand-holding. Donor-facing content will largely be developed by you.

    Compensation and Structure

    • Independent Contractor Status (At least for the probationary period)
    • You control your methods and schedule.
    • No automatic discretionary budget authority.
    • May work for other organizations in the same or similar roles.

    Probationary Period (First 90 Days)

    • Base pay: $21/hour.
    • Hours: Typically 5–10 hours/week initially; may increase as funds allow.
    • Performance bonus: $100 per $1,000 in net new donations or awarded grants (minimum $1,000).

    Probationary Benchmarks (Hard Metrics)

    • By Day 45: $1,000 in net donations within a rolling 30-day window.
By Day 90: $2,000 in net donations within a rolling 30-day window.

Failure to meet these benchmarks may result in termination.

    Post-Probation Expectations (Day 91+)

    • $2,000 per month in net donations is the minimum ongoing requirement to continue in the role.
    • Pay and hours scale directly with fundraising effectiveness.
    • Typical effective range: ~$28/hour, 10–20 hours per week.
    • High-performance scenario: Salaried, full-time position

    How Fundraising Is Measured

    What Counts as Net Donations:

    • New donors.
      • Increased giving from existing donors.
      • New recurring monthly donations started after your hire date.
      • Recurring gifts count monthly (not annualized).
    • Grants
      • Count in full when awarded.
      • Must be written and awarded during your contract term.
      • Large grants may allow for increased permitted hours.

    Reporting and Accountability

    • Regular written reporting (weekly or biweekly).
    • Metrics tracked include:
      • Funds raised.
      • Grants submitted.
      • Grants awarded.
      • Active campaigns.

    Faith and Mission Requirements

    • Because this role is donor-facing and represents AMI publicly:
    • You must sign the Profession of Faith and Oath of Fidelity to the Magisterium.
    • You must uphold Catholic teaching in public representation.
    • You may not fundraise for causes that contradict Catholic moral teaching elsewhere.

    Qualifications

    • Prior experience in fundraising and grant writing.
    • Demonstrated track record of successful fundraising results.
    • Strong written communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently in an early-stage nonprofit environment.
    • Comfort with clear performance benchmarks and accountability.

    Growth Potential

We would love for this role to grow into a full-time, salaried position. That outcome depends entirely on fundraising effectiveness and the sustainability of the revenue stream you help build.
