Position Summary: The Director of Student Supports provides leadership, vision, and oversight for student support services at Regina Angelorum Academy. This role is responsible for developing and coordinating special education programs that honor the dignity of each child, support diverse learning needs, and align with the Academy's Catholic mission, classical philosophy, and commitment to virtue formation. The Director collaborates closely with faculty, parents, administrators, and external service providers to ensure students are supported academically, socially, and spiritually.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development & Oversight:
Design, implement, and monitor student support and special education programs for students with a range of learning differences and disabilities. Ensure programs are developmentally appropriate, mission-aligned, and responsive to individual student needs. Evaluate program effectiveness and recommend improvements as needed.
Compliance & Policy:
Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws as they pertain to Regina Angelorum Academy as a private, non-public, non-licensed institution. Develop, implement, and maintain school policies and procedures related to student supports and special education services. Serve as a knowledgeable resource to administration and staff regarding legal and ethical considerations in student support services.
Staff Leadership & Professional Development:
Provide leadership, supervision, and ongoing support to special education teachers and staff. Collaborate with general education teachers to build capacity for supporting diverse learners in the classroom. Plan and deliver professional development focused on best practices, collaboration, and mission-centered instruction.
Hiring & Mentoring:
Participate as a member of the hiring and mentoring team for prospective teachers. Assist in interviewing, onboarding, and mentoring new faculty, particularly as it relates to student supports and inclusive practices.
Collaboration & Communication: Work collaboratively with general education staff, parents, therapists, and school administrators to create coordinated and supportive systems for students. Facilitate clear, compassionate communication with families regarding student needs, progress, and support plans.
School Culture & Mission: Partner with parents, teachers, and administrators to foster a school culture rooted in virtue, charity, and respect for the dignity of every student.
Support the integration of Catholic identity and virtue formation within student support practices.
Qualifications: Background and experience as a special education teacher or school psychologist. Experience working with students with disabilities and learning differences in an educational setting. Understanding of special education laws and best practices as they apply to private schools. Commitment to classical Catholic education and the mission of Regina Angelorum Academy. Excellent collaboration, leadership, and communication skills.
