Overview This full-time (40 hours per week) position undertakes the challenge of building, organizing, and coordinating the youth ministry efforts of St. Clare of Assisi and St. Alban Roe so that high school and junior high parishioners are given every opportunity to experience the life-changing power of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through prayer, the Sacraments, Scripture, and Christ-centered community. Collaboration will be expected with a variety of staff and volunteers in both schools and both parishes.
Vision 1. To capture the hearts and minds of teens for Christ rather than the world. 2. To establish a community in Christ where virtue and friendship can thrive. 3. To engender a life of committed prayer into young people. 4. To teach the faith, preparing teens to be resilient disciples of Christ throughout the rest of their lives. 5. To form teens capable of making a gift of themselves to God and others, especially in the communal life of their parish and the greater Catholic Church. 6. To challenge teens to live on mission, especially in the consideration of their vocation.
Requirements The youth minister should: 1. Be an active, committed, faith-filled and faithful Roman Catholic with an abiding prayer life. 2. Understand, believe, and practice all the teachings of the Catholic Church. 3. Be able to boldly and confidently teach the Catholic faith. 4. Believe in and encourage the Sacramental life of the Church. 5. Desire to spend time with young people, to connect with them personally, and to enter into the dynamics of their lives. 6. Possess strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, as well as the social skills necessary for highly relational ministry.
