The Director of Religious Education (DRE) is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating all religious education and faith formation programs within the community. The DRE provides leadership, vision, and coordination for children's, youth, and adult faith formation, ensuring programs are doctrinally sound, engaging, and supportive of lifelong spiritual development.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and oversee all religious education and faith formation programs for children, youth, and adults.
Recruit, train, and supervise catechists, volunteers, and program staff.
Coordinate sacramental preparation programs (e.g., First Communion, Confirmation, OCIA) in collaboration with clergy and ministry leaders.
Select and maintain curriculum materials aligned with the organization's faith tradition and educational standards.
Manage the religious education budget and maintain accurate program records.
Communicate effectively with families, volunteers, and parish/school leadership.
Plan and implement retreats, workshops, service opportunities, and special events.
Ensure a safe and welcoming learning environment and compliance with all child protection policies.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and collaboration within the larger faith community.
