    Location of Job:  St. Matthew Catholic School. 221 SE Walnut St, Hillsboro, OR 97123

    Reports to: Principal

    FLSA Status: Exempt (Full-time; some evenings/weekends)

     

    Mission & Role Overview

    Guided by the Holy Spirit, St. Matthew Catholic School’s mission is to form young minds as curious scholars, servant leaders, and faithful disciples of Jesus Christ.

    St. Matthew's is a caring, Christ-centered community dedicated to the development of each student. As a ministry of St. Matthew Catholic Church, under the care of the Missionaries of the Holy Spirit, our school strives to bear witness to the Gospel through excellent education, a vibrant Catholic culture, and service to our parish and the broader community.

    The Marketing Specialist advances this mission by telling the story of St. Matthew with clarity and beauty—growing awareness, engagement, and enrollment, with particular attention to welcoming and communicating effectively with Spanish-speaking families.

     

    Key Outcomes

    1.        Increase qualified inquiries and campus visits from mission-aligned families, including Spanish-speaking households.

    2.      Strengthen brand consistency and visibility across digital, print, and parish/community channels.

    3.      Support annual enrollment goals through effective campaigns, content, events, and data-driven follow-up.

     

    Core Responsibilities

    1) Marketing Strategy & Brand Stewardship

    •          Execute an annual marketing plan aligned to the school’s mission, values, and brand standards; maintain consistent messaging and visual identity across channels.

    •          Draft and place parish bulletin inserts, press releases, and community announcements; maintain positive media and community relations.

    •          Create and manage promotional assets (flyers, ads, landing pages, presentations) for admissions, advancement, and school culture initiatives.

    2) Content, Social Media, and Storytelling

    •          Plan a consistent posting schedule and capture and publish photo/video stories that highlight daily school life, Catholic identity, and student achievement, ensuring media permission compliance.

    •          Produce bilingual (English/Spanish) content for web, email, and social platforms; monitor engagement and respond in a timely, pastoral tone.

    •          Keep the website current with compelling, accurate copies and visuals that reflect the mission.

    3) Enrollment Marketing & Admissions Support

    •          Partner with the Principal (and any enrollment/admissions staff or volunteers) to generate inquiries, nurture connections, and support tours, shadow days, open houses, and onboarding touchpoints.

    •          Maintain or support maintenance of a prospect database; track leads, conversions, and retention indicators; provide regular reports and insights.

    •          Coordinate event communications and follow-up for “conversion moments” (e.g., Catholic Schools Week, Kindergarten Round-Up, info nights).

    4) Spanish-Language Outreach & Community Partnerships

    •          Develop culturally attentive campaigns and materials in Spanish; ensure parity of information (timeliness and quality) between English and Spanish communications.

    •          Build relationships with parish ministries (including Hispanic ministry), feeder parishes/schools, and community partners; represent the school at parish Masses and local events.

    •          Provide on-site interpretation at key events when feasible; coordinate professional translation/interpretation support as needed.

    5) Collaboration, Advancement, and Community Life

    •          Collaborate with the Principal and staff to align marketing, admissions, development, and school culture initiatives; recruit and direct volunteers to extend capacity for events and campaigns.

    •          Promote fundraisers and community-building activities; acknowledge sponsors and partners appropriately across digital and print channels.

    •          Contribute to a joyful, welcoming, and professional front-of-house experience for prospective families.

    6) Data, Tools, and Compliance

    •          Use common design, office, and marketing tools (e.g., Canva/Adobe, Google Workspace, Facebook/Instagram) and any school CRM/EMS to plan, execute, and measure work.

    •          Track KPIs (traffic, inquiries, event RSVPs, conversions, yield) and provide weekly/quarterly updates.

    •          Adhere to Safe Environment protocols and media permissions; uphold Archdiocesan and school policies.

     

    Qualifications

    Required

    •          Deep alignment with the mission of Catholic education and beliefs of the Catholic church; ability to communicate Catholic identity with clarity and love.

    •          Bilingual: Professional proficiency in spoken and written Spanish and English.

    •          Demonstrated skill in content creation (copy + basic design/video), social media management, and event promotion.

    •          Strong organization, follow-through, and data/reporting competence; ability to work some evenings/weekends for events.

    Preferred

    •          A practicing Catholic who is a disciple of Jesus Christ and lives in fidelity to the Church’s teaching for their state of life.

    •          2+ years in marketing, communications, or enrollment-related work (nonprofit, education, or parish/school preferred).

    •          Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field—or equivalent experience.

    •          Experience with school admissions cycles, lead-nurture workflows, and CRM/EMS platforms.

    •          Familiarity with parish life and Hispanic Catholic cultures and ministry.

     

    Work Conditions & Physical Requirements

    •          Office and campus-based role with regular walking to capture photos/video at events and in classrooms; occasional lifting of materials up to 25 lbs.; extended computer use.

     

    Employment Details

    •          Schedule: 12-month position; full-time; some evenings/weekends for parish/community events and admissions activities.

    •          Compensation & Benefits: Commensurate with experience; includes Archdiocesan benefits package. (Details provided during hiring.)
