OSV News is seeking a highly experienced Independent Consultant Vatican Correspondent and Analyst to provide coverage of the pontificate of Pope Leo XIV to an American and International audience. Must be a dedicated self-starter and a consummate professional who can work under pressure and in challenging and sometimes rapidly changing circumstances.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide daily coverage of the Vatican, specializing in news and analysis
Report via multiple media channels, with a priority on writing
Develop contacts and sources at the Vatican and globally, with a particular eye to the American Church and the Leonine pontificate
Create, edit and publish a daily newsletter from the Vatican
Post and assist in growing of social media presence for OSV News from the Vatican
Post content to content sites
Represent OSV News well as a member of the Vatican press corps
Participate in a positive, faith-filled team-centric environment
Adhere to the Catholic Media Association's Fair Publishing Practices Code
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree, with major in Journalism, Communications or English
Detailed knowledge of the Catholic Church and the Vatican
Proficiency in multimedia and social media reporting
Ability to juggle multiple projects, priorities and deadlines
Ability to thrive in high-speed, high-pressure environment
Excellent time management and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
Willingness and ability to travel and report from around the world
Fluent in both Italian and English
Experience working at the Vatican preferred
Excellent writing and editing skills
Ability to think creatively and independently
Independent worker, but also thrives in a multidisciplinary team environment
Minimum 5 years of experience
Must be based in Rome, Italy
