This position involves teaching Earth Science to students in grade 8, with a focus on geology, meteorology, oceanography, and astronomy.
Key Responsibilities: • Develop and deliver Earth Science curriculum aligned with NYS and national standards • Prepare the students for the new NYS Earth & Space Sciences Regents Exam • Design assessments to measure student learning and provide meaningful feedback • Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress • Participate in professional development opportunities and school events Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Earth Science, Geology, Education, or a related field (Master's preferred) • Valid teaching certification in Middle School Science or relevant endorsement • Experience teaching middle school students, preferably in a science classroom • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to build positive student relationships • Enthusiasm for teaching and a commitment to continuous learning Preferred Skills: • Familiarity with NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) • Experience with lab-based and project-based learning • Comfort with educational technology and digital science tools
