Divine Mercy Family of Parishes is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Coordinator of Youth & Family Evangelization. This position reports to the Director of Evangelization and is a key member of the Evangelization Team. The Coordinator accompanies parents and their children (grades PK-8) through a discipleship pathway, so that they encounter Jesus and become His missionary disciples. The ideal candidate is a faithful disciple of Christ, a joyful witness who is able to build relationships with parents and volunteers, and can effectively communicate the beauty, truth, and goodness of the Catholic faith to adults and children.
Primary Responsibilities include: 1. Coordinate the Family Faith Formation program for parents and children in grades 1-8. 2. Maintain good communication with the families about expectations and gatherings. Seek to meet with parents one-on-one to aid them as the primary educators of their children. 3. Recruits, equips, and accompanies a team of volunteers to help with Family Faith Formation. 4. Oversee the preparation for the sacraments of 1st Reconciliation, 1st Communion, and Confirmation. Plan and lead retreats for students preparing for the Sacraments. 5. Oversee the development of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd for ages 3-6. 6. Assist with liturgical and devotional events for the parish schools (e.g. School Mass, Children's Holy Hour, Stations of the Cross) in collaboration with parish and school staff. 7. In collaboration with the Evangelization Team, plan and promote an annual calendar of programming and formational opportunities. 8. Other duties as assigned by the Pastor or Director of Evangelization.
Qualifications include: 1. Practicing Catholic who is faithful to the teachings of the Church and their daily prayer and sacramental life. 2. A bachelor's degree in Theology and/or Catechetics is preferred, but associated fields are acceptable. 3. 3+ years of religious education experience is preferred. 4. Knowledge of Faith and Family Life Catholic Ministries Pathways and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is preferred. 5. Must be a team player willing to work with the Evangelization Team to carry out the vision to evangelize families in the parish.
