St. Cecilia Catholic Church is looking for a Coordinator of Elementary Faith Formation to form and engage parishioners in particular grades PreK through 5th Grade, of a diverse Catholic community in the implementation of the New Evangelization. This position will be part of a vibrant Faith Formation Team passionate about advancing the Gospel in collaboration with each other and the faithful. Formation Serve students in Kindergarten through 5th grade through traditional Faith Formation setting and ages 3-12 in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) Responsible for sacramental preparation of Reconciliation & Eucharist for children in 2nd grade including St. Cecilia School 2nd grade. Activities include preparing home study material, learning centers, retreats and liturgies Encourage families in participation of the Mass & parish activities Coordinate with a team of volunteers to hold a summer Vacation Bible School Experience
Engagement Recruit, train and coordinate volunteer catechists & assistants for traditional Faith Formation grades K-5 and CGS Levels 1, 2, 3 Communicate regularly to families of grades K-5 Host informational events for families and parishioners to learn more about CGS and participation in by becoming trained leaders for CGS Work with St. Cecilia School staff to offer CGS for grades K-3
Staff Relations Be part of the Faith Formation Team Attend weekly staff meetings Attend weekly Faith Formation Team meetings Attend quarterly & special Faith Formation Commission meetings Cooperate with other parish staff & groups
Administrative Responsibilities Prepares and manages a budget Organizes a calendar of events for area of responsibility Collects paperwork & sacramental records as needed Follows Archdiocesan Pastoral Center Staff and their policies/procedures
Expectations Have a strong daily prayer life Regularly attend Mass and other events at St. Cecilia to build relationships with parishioners Available evenings and few weekends particularly Wednesdays during the academic year and occasional other days Be an active part of the parish community Continue professional development & spiritual growth
Qualifications Roman Catholic in good standing with the Church Bachelor's degree in Theology and/or related field 2+ years of ministry experience preferred Formation in at least Catechesis of Good Shepherd Level I, preferred Experience in parish/diocese level Faith Formation of children and/or family ministry While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, talk, reach, sit, hear, handle and perform repetitive motions of the hands/wrists. Lifts and moves items up to 20 pounds.
