The Director of Evangelization and Faith Formation, under the leadership of the Pastor and with the support of other parish staff, oversees the parish's three-fold implementation of the New Evangelization to form missionary disciples: the continuing formation of the faithful; outreach to non-practicing Catholics; and, the evangelization of those who do not know Christ. He/she ensures that all parish apostolates are done in a missionary key, fostering an encounter with Christ through the Church. He/she coordinates and supports lay volunteers who serve various apostolates in the parish.
Responsibilities for Evangelization -Offers opportunities for primary evangelization and continuing formation in the faith -Forms and provides support for parish volunteers to be missionary disciples -Coordinates with diocesan evangelization initiatives
Responsibilities for Adult Faith Formation -Oversees adult faith formation programs including OCIA, Bible studies, Thomistic Institute Lectures, etc. -Supports large and small fellowship groups -Aids sacramental (marriage and baptism) preparation, and parent formation -Coordinates Campus Ministry at George Mason University at Mason Square
Responsibilities for Children and Youth Faith Formation -Manages Family Faith Formation and sacramental preparation (religious education for Grades K-8) -Assists catechists with sacramental preparation (Grades K-8) -Coordinates High School programs (Grades 9-12) -Recruits and supports volunteer catechists and mentors (Grades K-12)
Parish Communications -Employs parish digital (website, email, podcast, social media, etc.) and print (bulletin, signage, etc.) media to spread parish, diocesan, and Church messaging
Knowledge, Skills and Experience -Experience in evangelization including in the formation of intentional disciples -Experience in adult, youth, and child faith formation -Proficiency in digital and print media platforms preferred -Zeal for personal holiness and for the mission of the Church, including faithfulness to the Church's Magisterium -Knowledge of Church teaching -Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills -Conversational Spanish desired
