Saint Leo the Great Catholic Church, located in beautiful Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is a vibrant 1,200 family member parish seeking a Director of Finance. The Director is a professional administrator, with the assistance of a Finance Assistant, who works in support of and in collaboration with the pastor.
The Director of Finance is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Finance Department; securing the assets of the church and school; communicating with and reporting financial information to the pastor, finance councils and Diocese; honoring the intentions of donors; and developing processes that increase efficiency and comply with diocesan policies and governmental laws.

Duties Include, but are not limited to:
Supervise, review and provide training to the Finance Assistant Manage cash flow Prepare bank reconciliations Prepare journal entries for donations made via the Diocese, online giving, matching organizations Review the weekly offertory deposit sheet Record Endowment and savings earnings and donations Report endowment funds available for distribution Facilitate endowment and savings donations or withdrawals Monitor Restricted Accounts and adjust cash accordingly each month Review disbursements for items to be capitalized Review disbursements for applicable use tax File quarterly use tax returns File semi-annual sales tax refund returns Make journal entries for Diocesan debits for 2nd collections Prepare bi-weekly payroll and make journal entries accordingly Coordinate with Diocesan payroll and HR Departments Compute monthly stipends for priests Provide the bulletin editor with bi-weekly stewardship reports Prepare annual budgets Advise the Finance Assistant with coding of expenditures and revenues Review coding of expenditures Prepare subsidy letter for parishes where our students are registered Manage the columbarium records Manage office equipment rental agreements Review auxiliary financial statements and bank reconciliations Manage issuance/deletion of credit cards Oversee the issuance of annual parishioner statements Oversee the issuance of 1099s Assist with the setting up of family tuition accounts Manage the NC Opportunity Scholarship program Facilitate financial aid assistance for tuition Review tuition delinquencies, follow up and resolve Prepare the Internal Control Survey/Schedule K/Letter to the Bishop Prepare the report to parishioners on a semi-annual basis Prepare financial statements/reports for finance council packets for quarterly meetings Meet with the Chair of the finance council in preparation for meetings Have Chair review all bank statements and reconciliations In coordination with the principal and pastor, establish tuition rates and fees Responsible for Diocesan and CPA audits/reviews Respond to parishioner/staff/school families/Diocese and other outside entities' questions or issues Manage capital campaigns Personnel file maintenance Provide new employees with forms File I-9 for new employees Reconcile monthly insurance billing Perform Finance Assistant duties when on vacation/sick leave Maintain personnel files/Implement payroll and personnel changes
