    Description

    Bishop Ireton High School is seeking a full-time Front Desk Receptionist. The Receptionist reports to the Director of Admissions and the Head of School and is responsible for providing a welcoming atmosphere for the school front office. The Receptionist provides administrative and clerical assistance for front office needs and handles matters of a routine nature to facilitate the efficient and effective operations of the reception area. The Receptionist is knowledgeable regarding the school calendar, schedule, policies and procedures as they pertain to the position, and the receptionist is capable of utilizing the school's phone system and front entry system. This position maintains professional confidentiality regarding all school matters and understands the high priority of safety procedures regarding entrance and access to all who visit the school.

    This role has outward facing duties, as the Receptionist engages with students, current and prospective families, diocesan representatives, visitors, vendors, alumni, and friends of Bishop Ireton. This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week with coverage from 7:30am-3:30pm, 12 months per year.

    Essential Functions:
    • Answers incoming calls and responds to visitors for the school and offices.
    • Possesses a working knowledge of the rules and regulations as stated in the
    Student/Parent Handbook.
    • Is knowledgeable about school staff and their areas of responsibility in order to screen/route phone calls accordingly.
    • Provides limited back up administrative support to administrative offices when necessary.
    • Monitors front door entry and reviews access procedures for all visitors to the school, utilizing the sign-in and security system. Announce visitors to their destination as required.
    • Updates students' and parents' information as needed in the portal system.
    • Maintains communication with facilities/maintenance staff and works with the technology department as needed for front office and phone system needs.
    • Communicates with families, shadow visitors and school inquiries by phone and in person throughout the day, maintaining professionalism and positive interactions.
    • Collaborates well with the Attendance Coordinator, who also works in the front office area.
    • Performs other duties as requested by the Director of Admissions, which might include administrative assistance for front office admissions needs.

    Qualifications:
    Strong time management skills; reliable and organized for a consistent start to each school day; demonstrates attention to detail
    Must speak fluent English; knowledge of Spanish is a plus.
    Experience working in a school environment preferred.
