Summary/Objective:
The Senior Accountant position is a specialized position responsible for the prudent stewardship and effective administration of the financial resources of multiple parishes in the Diocese of Madison. The Senior Accountant serves as an advisor on strategic matters and adoption of accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Essential Job Functions:
• Plans, directs and coordinates all accounting functions for multiple parishes
• Ensure timely reporting and issuance of monthly financial statements
• Supervise all banking/treasury management activities
• Ensure accounting activities follows GAAP and appropriate FASB standards
• Creation and maintenance of general ledger journal entries
• Creation of business and financial reports
• Ensure all payables/expense are processed and paid in a timely manner
• Prepare annual budgets
• Maintain fixed assets and recording of accumulated depreciation
• Ensure proper documentation is kept and policies are followed
• Collaborate with parish finance councils, business managers and other parish staff to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor
Required Education & Experience:
• Five or more years' experience in accounting
• Proficient in QuickBooks Online and Microsoft 365
• Ability to manipulate data using Excel
• GAAP & FASB knowledge
• Bachelor's degree in accounting

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
• Office environment
• Ability to travel to parishes throughout the diocese when necessary

• All internal departments within the Diocese of Madison, diocesan entities, diocesan parishes
