5th Grade Teacher

GRACE- St. John the Baptist Catholic School is growing! We are looking for a full-time 5th Grade Teacher. As a Catholic school, we are looking for someone who is a practicing Christian and passionate about presenting rigorous science instruction which is illuminated by our faith in Jesus Christ. This position is responsible for fostering a safe, welcoming, positive learning environment for all students and co-workers and providing lessons that meet or exceed state, local, and school standards.

Essential Functions:

Instruction
Prepares daily lesson plans in all subject areas
Prepares instructional activities allowing for individual differences among students in the classroom
Integrates cross-curriculum instruction when possible
Integrates technology into daily lesson plans
Provides a safe, comfortable, productive learning environment that encourages and challenges students spiritually, academically, physically, and socially
Desire to show the connectedness and dialog between faith and science

Supervising
Supervises all students, to foster a safe environment
Knowledgeable in the unique needs of middle school students

Professional
Participates in activities that promote professional growth and development
Maintains current certifications and licensures
Reads and agrees to follow policies and procedures as defined in the handbook
Interested in learning about and developing curriculum
Values positive collaboration with peers in a Christian environment

Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited college or university
Practicing Christian who wants to share his/her gifts for the mission of Catholic education.
Current Wisconsin Teaching Certification to include science and grades 6-8
Submission to a legal background check
Excels in communication
Proficient in MS suite and quick to learn new programs
Self-motivated
Ability to work in a busy environment

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, sit, and frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk. The employee will use the hands feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally exert or lift up to 40 pounds. Successful performance requires specific vision abilities that include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision
