This is a salaried, full-time position.
The Director of Youth Faith Formation at St. Joseph Parish, works directly with the Pastor and the Religious Education Committee to identify, develop, implement and evaluate curriculum emphasizing faith development and formation of children and youth in preschool through Confirmation (11th grade). The
Director designs programs with outreach, advertising and personal invitation to promote and encourage participation at all grade levels in the Parish community.
Minimum Qualifications:
An applicant in full communion with the Catholic Church, its teachings, and supports the mission of the Church to spread the faith through study, prayer and service.
Degree in Education or equivalent work experience in classroom environment. Certification in Youth Ministry preferred.
Ability to use computer programs (Publisher, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, presentation technology).
Strong human relations skills, attention to details and accuracy, self-motivated, flexible, demonstrates initiative and works with minimal supervision.
Essential Duties:
Plan, develop, execute and evaluate curriculum, emphasizing faith development and formation of children ages preschool through Confirmation in the fall of 11th grade.
Identify, train and coach catechists and volunteers as needed.
Coordinate, supervise and evaluate:
Sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation
First Reconciliation Service, First Communion and Confirmation Masses
Children's Liturgy of the Word (Sundays October through May)
Manage all aspects of programs including supplies, budgets, schedules, use of building/facilities.
Promote and encourage participation in all programs with outreach, advertising and personal invitation.
Regularly communicate with parents including bulletin columns, newsletters, emails and announcements.
Seek service involvement and faith formation opportunities for children throughout the year including Missions, Camps, Vacation Bible School, volunteerism and projects with the Coordinator of Parish Life Ministries.
Attend the weekly Parish Staff Meeting, Religious Education Committee Meetings as needed, and Pastoral Council meeting as requested.
