St. John’s Ministries has exclusively retained The QTI Group to conduct the search for their new Executive Director.

St. John’s Ministries is seeking an Executive Director to lead the organization and uphold its mission to honor dignity, restore hope, and create lasting change for those experiencing homelessness or housing instability in the greater Green Bay, WI community.

Strategy Leader

• Ensure St. John’s Ministries (SJM) is right-fitted for service scope within the community.
• Lead development of SJM strategic profile and 5–10-year strategic plan; solicit Board and SJM team input.
• Leverage clinical expertise to outline clinical service philosophy in SJM strategy.
• Ensure organization structure aligns with and enables efficient execution of the mission and strategic objectives.
• Educate SJM teammates on strategic profile, plan and objectives; explain rationale and impact on guests, SJM team, and the community.
• Cascade 5–10-year plan to annual strategic objectives; delegate operational execution to appropriate teams.
• Develop and monitor cascaded operational metrics.
• Lead startup phases of strategic innovations; transition to operations teams once established.
• Maintain relationships with major donors.
• Create a culture of philanthropy.

Community Ambassador

• Oversee the public image and brand of SJM.
• Represent SJM in the community for strategic issues.
• Delegate SJM representation at community functions to other leaders as deemed appropriate.
• Establish relationships with civic leaders who will influence SJM’s strategic success.
• Oversee SJM donor recognition efforts.
• Give impactful presentations to high-level donors.
• Seek opportunities to partner on causes that align with SJM's mission.
• Actively pursue systemic societal change representing the needs and trends o guests SJM serves.
• Maintain constructive perception of SJM in the community; manage crises.

People Performance Leader

• Understand individual teammate motivators & talents; find ways to leverage toward SJM objectives.
• Provide meaningful recognition.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and development.
• Facilitate conflict resolution.
• Field and address direct report concerns/questions.
• Define performance roles, responsibilities, expectations, and authorities (RREAs).
• Manage chronic performance gaps.
• Conduct formal performance reviews at SJM-required intervals.
• Document performance management communication, written & oral, formal & informal.
• Ensure that everyone in SJM has development plans (delegated to direct leaders).

Operations & Risk Owner

• Oversee the direction of SJM’s core ministries, acting as operations architect, not operations manager.
• Align the intersection of strategy and operations.
• Guide leaders when core ministry activities are not aligned with mission and strategy.
• Manage the assets (physical, financial, human, etc.)
• Ensure long-term financial viability.
• Ensure all applicable regulatory and compliance requirements are met.
• Oversee budget development and management for services; ensure all variances are addressed.

Culture Driver

• Demonstrate Servant leadership.
• Demonstrate SJM team guiding principles in all actions.
• Ensure that the guest experience aligns with guiding principles and values.
• Create a culture of empowerment, trust, and accountability that leverages individual talents.
• Identify trends of staff and/or guest services events; address trends that require a course correction.
• Advise leaders, coaching and mentoring in pursuit of mission, vision, and guiding principles.
• Role model responsive communication and accountability through personal behavior.

Board Collaborator

• Consistently liaison information between the Board and SJM team.
• Maintain consistent communication with Executive Committee.
• Collaborate with Board Chair on the creation of agendas.
• Present strategic plan and proposed budget to Board for approval.
• Regularly report on strategic plan progress to Board.
• Manage and identify competing priorities with Board and operational staff to ensure alignment with strategy and capacity, and leverage expertise.
• Discern SJM's capacity for taking on Board/staff project ideas.
• Suggest priorities to Board for SJM projects and innovations. (Control the gas and the brake.)
• Develop relationships with each board member to leverage talent and appreciate contributions.
• Engage potential Board members for nomination.

Professional Qualifications Needed:

• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred).
• Five+ years of senior nonprofit management experience.
• Fundraising experience to include excellent donor relations skills and understanding of the funding community as the organization is 100% community funded. Success in generating new revenue streams and improving financial results.
• Strong financial acumen, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making reporting, and planning for long-term sustainability.
• Experience working with any/all the following issues: mental health, substance abuse, trauma, low-income and/or homeless populations, and/or healthcare.

• High-level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, Board of Directors, volunteers, and donors.
• Ability to act with integrity, transparency, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Must have a passion for the mission and the population served by St. John’s Ministries.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  Relationship-building ability and demonstrated success in expanding, cultivating and maintaining donor relations, including the ability to develop and execute fundraising and community engagement strategies.
• Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
• Problem-solving skills and data-driven approach.
