Director of Black Catholic and Ethnic Ministries
Grounded in the awareness that the pastoral care and evangelization of Black, Asian and Pacific Islander and Native American Catholics is the responsibility of the entire Church, the Director for Black Catholic and Ethnic Ministry fosters a holistic vision of the Body of Christ, honoring, developing and celebrating the unique gifts of these diverse communities throughout the Archdiocese of Milwaukee in a spirit of collaborative and comprehensive pastoral planning.
Inspired by the evangelizing mission of the Catholic Church, the Director works in unison with the Bishops, the Chief Operations Officer, the Director of the Department of Catholic Social Responsibility, archdiocesan offices, pastoral leaders and professional and volunteer lay ministers to provide a just response to the needs of the Black Catholic, Native American and Asian and Pacific Islander communities, ensuring a strong and empowering pastoral ministry and full ecclesial integration.
Key Responsibilities
Provide visible and vibrant leadership
Direct the implementation and evaluation of the Black Catholic Pastoral Plan
Maintain regular communication with pastor and key leaders of parishes where there are Black Catholic, Asian Pacific Islander or Native American communities
Plan and coordinate programs and events for Black Catholics, Asian Pacific Islander Catholics, and Native American Catholics
Identify and mentor emerging leaders
Collaborate in the areas of evangelization and catechesis
Oversee grants and reporting
Represent the Archdiocese in national organizations
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Theology or related field, Master's degree preferred
Minimum three to five years working in a Catholic parish or school required
Ability to demonstrate knowledge and sensitivity towards diverse cultures
Ability to develop goals, plan programs, and work effectively with others
Must be a practicing Catholic able to partake in the sacramental life of the Church
Knowledge of diverse worldviews, cultures, needs, and community resources
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Demonstrated leadership and administration skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 265 suite
